Chicago Basin on Fire

Chicago Basin, north of Durango, holds a special place in my heart. It’s no surprise, then, that I found myself back there again this summer — it felt like visiting an old friend.

The peaks rose tall and steady, the sunset washing them in waves of color and shadow. As the light shifted, different parts of the mountains glowed, then faded, revealing new forms and quiet beauty in unexpected places.

I realized I’m much the same. The core of who I am hasn’t changed, but as I learn and grow, different parts of me shine at different times — some quietly, some brilliantly. With each season, I find a little more clarity, a little more grace.

Like the mountains, I’m still me — just illuminated in new ways.
